Sarah Schaffer
Sarah Schaffer attended graduate school at Indiana University, where she received masters’ degrees in musicology and music librarianship, and the Ph.D. in music theory, with minors in cello performance. She was a founding member of Quartessence, playing society events throughout the Madison area. Sarah currently works in arts administration, managing the Token Creek Festival, Pro Arte Quartet, Aspen String Trio, curating the summer concert series at Allen Centennial garden, and serving as board advisor to Salon Piano Series. She has been assistant to composer John Harbison for more than twenty years, managing concerts, commissions, residencies and other engagements, and recordings. She was director of Pro Arte Quartet’s centennial anniversary celebration, creating, financing, and curating the half-million dollar, multi-year project. She also served as executive director for the UW School of Music recordings label, was president of the inaugural board of directors of the Oakwood Chamber Players, and was a vice president of the Madison Symphony Orchestra League board.
